“Easier Said Than Done”

15 Nov

I was inspired by Natural High to write this post today.

It took many years before I could listen to this song that was written for me by my sweet brother. It was at a time in my life when suddenly everything changed overnight leaving me unsure of what the next day would bring. It was a learning experience, to say the least, of enormous magnitude so in solidarity with single moms everywhere, we can’t lose hope even during the darkest hours. We never know what’s right outside our door waiting or the discoveries we’ll make within ourselves that somehow got lost along the way. Peace!

Easier Said Than Done

Copyright – Lyrics by Derek Abbott

Someone’s torn your heart from your soul
and left you behind quite out of control
As sudden as a summer rain
the love’s washed away replaced by the pain.

So much easier said than done
to fly with broken wings above
They say a heart filled with hate is like a loaded gun
to live in peace you must live with love.

Someone stole the stars from your sky
and left you alone with no tears to cry.
Stumbling through your darkest night
a child on each arm and no dawn in site.

So much easier said than done
to stand up with your head held high
They say that time heals all wounds, take it from one who knows
it’s a fact that you can’t deny.

Tonight you’re searching for answers
will you find them all in the end?
Somewhere within is a reason to believe
you will love again.

Someday someone else will be there
as time marches on the less you will care.
The feelings that you carry today
the hurt and the hate will all fade away.

So much easier said than done
to face up to the lessons learned
They say each fork in the road cannot be traveled down
once you’ve chosen you can’t return.

h, Gracie, these lyrics gave me goosebumps! And oh, how painfully true that Its easier said than done! But our lives are truly blessed by those who will say the encouraging words that nourish our spirit- the words that must be said many times because hurting people can be hard of hearing! What a great brother! And thanks for the mention- I am happy to know that what I write matters.

Thanks, Natural High! I wish there was a way to link the song here but I’m not sure how to go about doing that. It’s really a beautiful song that brought comfort to my soul more times than I could count.

And yes, what you write definitely matters, my friend. You’re becoming quite the Guru with your words of wisdom. 🙂

How about making a video with audio?

Says so much of how your brother observed your pain.

It’s interesting observation! Darkness is also absent of light. Actually you can never bring darkness to room. You can only work with light to create darkness. Similarly you cannot do anything about your darkness due to pain. you need to work on Inner light. then you can do something about darkness.

thanks for such lovely piece. As I always say It’s lovely to visit you,

    Lots of love
